The Keeping · membership

Help keep The Servatory free.

Everything in the open library is free to read, and it always will be. Membership is simply how the work gets paid for. Your support goes straight to researching, writing, illustrating, and narrating new entries, and to keeping the whole archive online. Pick a tier below.

Where your money goes

What membership pays for

Every membership, at any tier, goes to the same three things. Nothing in the open library is ever locked behind payment.

I
Writing and research

The hours behind every entry: researching, drafting, and editing each finding before it is published.

II
Art and narration

Original illustration for new findings, plus the narrated audio reading that accompanies each entry.

III
Hosting and upkeep

Servers, storage, and maintenance, so the open library stays fast, free, and online for everyone.

Common questions

Before you join

Is The Servatory free to read?

Yes. The Open Encyclopedia is free for everyone, no account needed. The Lesser Encyclopedia is free too — you just create a free account to read it. Membership supports the work and never moves existing entries behind a paywall; the deeper Greater and Sealed Encyclopedias are a Lector’s Circle perk.

What does membership get me?

Depending on your tier: early access to new entries, full narrated audio, access to the restricted Greater and Sealed Encyclopedias, and a quarterly object in the mail. Most of all, it funds new entries being made.

Can I cancel?

Anytime, from your account. Your membership stays active until the end of the period you already paid for, and there is no penalty for stopping.

What is the Sealed Encyclopedia?

The archive’s most restricted findings, normally closed to readers. Lector’s Circle members get full access to it as a perk of the top tier.

How does payment work?

Securely, through Stripe. Your card details go straight to Stripe and are never seen or stored by The Servatory.
